We ware now the "Kapitel 3"!

Since we are a completely new team and the primary purpose of the space has changed (from a secondhand store to an event and cultural venue), we felt it was time for a new name. We are starting a new chapter, but the book remains the same.

We are using the same space, even though it is being redesigned, and without the work of the people who previously made the "Kapitel" in Würzburg known, we would not be where we are now. That is why the “Kapitel” part remains the same, yet much is changing and a new era is beginning.

Who's behind Kapitel 3?

Im Oktober 2025 haben wir als komplett neues Team aus circa 10 queeren Personen den Raum übernommen. Inzwischen haben wir Strukturen geschaffen, sodass viel Arbeit auf möglichst viele Schultern verteilt wird. Wir arbeiten alle komplett ehrenamtlich an diesem Projekt. Viele von uns sind schon seit einigen Jahren in linken, aktivistischen Kontexten in Würzburg aktiv und auch befreundet.

The AKs offer the opportunity to become part of the team. If you would like to participate in individual events or tasks, you can join the Signal group “Helfer*innen” (helpers).

Description of the working groups

AK Program

Wir planen das Programm und die Veranstaltungen, die im Kapitel stattfinden. Das heißt Anfragen besprechen, entscheiden ob sie zu unserem Selbstverständnis passen, mit den Veranstalter*innen kommunizieren und den Raum erklären. Wir stehen im Austausch mit dem AK Finanzen, um sicherzustellen, dass die Kohle von den Veranstaltungen für die Monatsmiete reicht und mit dem AK Mobi teilen wir Sharepics und Infos zu den Events, damit sie beworben werden können.

AK Raum

Im Raum gibt es viel Repro-Arbeit zu erledigen wie z.B. aufräumen, putzen, saugen, einkaufen, ggf. reparieren. Wir kümmern uns darum, dass das auf möglichst viele Schultern verteilt wird, hauptsächlich auf die Gruppen, die den Raum regelmäßig nutzen und Verstanstalter*innen. Außerdem gibt es immer wieder neue Ideen den Raum zu verbessern, also barriereärmer und zugänglicher zu gestalten, deshalb wird auch manchmal gewerkelt und gebaut.

AK Mobi

Damit Menschen auf das Kapitel 3 aufmerksam werden und von Veranstaltungen mitbekommen, braucht es zugängliche Informationen. Hierzu ist das Verwalten des Instagram-Accounts und Telegramm-Kanals, aber auch die Website und das Erstellen analoger Monatsübersichten und Plakate wichtig.

AK Finance

Um das Geld für die Erhaltung des Raumes müssen wir uns selbst kümmern. Dafür überlegen wir uns Konzepte, schreiben teilweise Förderanträge und behalten die Finanzen im Überblick. Zudem bezahlen wir die Rechnungen, alles was so an Strom, Miete und anderen bürokratischen Aufgaben anfällt.

AK Prozess

Wir kümmern uns darum, den Überblick zu behalten, Veränderungen von Strukturen vorzudenken und bereiten die gemeinsamen treffen mit allen aks vor.

Barriers:

  • Kapitel 3 is accessible at ground level. There is a slight rise at the entrance, which can cause some wheelchairs to jolt a little. We’re planning to sort that out. If you have any expertise, experience or ideas on this – please do get in touch.
  • There are lots of carpets and sofas in the room. The sofas are great for relaxing and lying down on. We try to vacuum regularly, but it tends to be a dusty room, which can be a challenge for people with asthma, for example. We’re planning to get an air purifier.
  • From time to time, there are dogs in the room, so it cannot be ruled out that there may be dog hair floating about.
  • The toilet has no grab rails. The washbasin is not easily accessible for people who are seated or of short stature. You reach the toilet via two doors and a small corridor. It may be too narrow for electric wheelchairs.
  • Wir haben aktuell noch keinen Wickeltisch und suchen einen, den man an die Wand schrauben und ein- und ausklappen kann. Wir freuen uns über Sachspenden 😉
  • In Kapitel 3, we cook vegan and vegetarian dishes, and at the OK (open Kapitel) on Mondays we always try to provide gluten-free options as well. However, we cannot guarantee to people with coeliac disease that there will be absolutely no gluten in the food.
    If you have any questions about the ingredients, it’s best to ask the people who cooked the meal in person.
